Anna, on the other hand, wrote to reprimand him if he failed to send his regards to Honora when writing to the family.Mike Rendellhttp://mikerendell.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3025629303560261772.post-13748653343779753922011-11-29T10:56:20.739-08:002011-11-29T10:56:20.739-08:00Mike, many thanks for your comment here. The oyster anecdote is pure delight, almost as grand as Dr Johnson's habit of personally buying oysters for his favourite cat!Russell Potterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11023313195827310776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3025629303560261772.post-46203118469305519442011-11-29T09:23:03.444-08:002011-11-29T09:23:03.444-08:00My ancestor married Anna's cousin and he liked...My ancestor married Anna's cousin and he liked her poetry. I have a few of Anna's letters (and a copy of her portrait as a young girl) plus a nice record of the fact that when my ancestor sent Anna a present of oysters at Christmas he always sent her the 'best sort' (i.e from Pyfleet) at a cost of 4 shillings and three pence a barrel (as opposed to the inferior ones from Colchester which cost 3 shillings and fourpence. These were saved for lesser friends and Baptist Ministers...).
